Cousins 1989

Cousins is a 1989 romantic/comedy that is seriously romantic and funny but somehow it's never got mentioned anywhere, that I really don't know why. Personally, I can watch this film over and over all through my life, especially when I have a bad day and want to feel good about the world again, it will be one of the films I choose to watch.

Starring Ted Danson as Larry Kozinski  Isabella Rossellini as Maria Hardy, Sean Young as Tish and William Petersen as Tom Hardy. It's a kind of mismatched couples and definitely nothing to do with incest. They are not related.😊

Maria is married to Tom and they have one daughter. Her mum is getting married to Larry's uncle. On their wedding day Tom and Tish who is Larry's wife starting an affair. Maria and Larry console each other on this subject but as they get to know each other they start to have feelings for each other and fall in love.

Ted Danson is not that handsome but there is something warm and manly about him. He plays Larry, a dance teacher who apparently has done many other serious jobs but is finally settled on being a poor but happy dance teacher. He says he doesn't want to be successful, he just wants to be happy. I think that has got me thinking ever since I first watched the film, will success bring happiness?

Maria, on a contrary is kind of nice but boring. She has been under her narcissistic husband' shadow for a long time. Having married young and started family so soon. When Larry asked her about the job, she automatically answers that her husband is a car salesman. "No, you. Do you work?" He repeats. I think Maria's personality develops once she goes out with Larry and she becomes more open and more interesting.   Cousins (1989) - bike scene - YouTube

Then we have Tish who is pretty but dim, even she admits it herself that she needs a lot of validation from other people that she is not just pretty.
Everyone can't help but hate Tom, a narcissist and cheated husband. It's so funny though when he goes around telling women he has been having affairs with that he can't see them anymore . William Petersen COUSINS PART 1 - YouTube
Isabella Rossellini is so beautiful in this film. Sean Young is very sexy (though I'm not a man) she is a different kind of beautiful to Isabella and she acts really well. Although Tish has cheated on Larry but no
one seems to hate her for that. She is really cute and funny.
Apart from those four main characters, other support characters are really great seasoning to the film. They are all so funny.
This film was beautifully filmed in Vancouver, Canada - the place looks stunning. There are three weddings and one funeral in the film. And if you are single and want to
get married with a big wedding then this film will make you want it even more! Just make sure you find someone nice like Larry Kozinski though😁
Songs used as soundtrack in this film are also very nice. They are well known songs but have been remade into more cheerful version, With or without you by U2 is one of them. But I can't find these songs from the film to listen
to anywhere. Music score is so so beautiful and very romantic. Composed by Angelo Badalamenti
You can listen to the whole album on YouTube - it's so beautiful and it will make you love the film even more.
The film is an adaptation of Cousin, Cousine, a French film. I think there is a clip of the original film on YouTube. Directed by Joel Schumacher. I can't

believe it has been made for over thirty years ago. But good films stand the test of time - this film is definitely one of them.  I don't find it out of date at all.💓
