Julie & Julia จูลี่และจูเลีย

A perfect combination is the result of when you put two right things together, like moonlight and love songs, candlelight and roses, music and movies. In Julie & Julia's case it's cooking and writing! I knew I would love this film before I even watched it.  Based on two true stories of Julie Powell who lived in New York in 2001 and Julia Child who lived in France in the 1950's. The film shows the similarities between the two women who lived in different country and different period of time but they had the same passion - cooking and writing. They both had nice, supportive husband. They both tried to prove themselves.  Personally, I feel like I can relate more to Julie who was coming up to her 30 and still didn't feel like she was doing as well as the rest of her  university friends. I would really hate that cobb salad meeting and no way I would go, sitting or having anything to do with  that sort of superficial friends, they were  all pretentious. And what is c

Cousins 1989

Cousins is a 1989 romantic/comedy that is seriously romantic and funny but somehow it's never got mentioned anywhere, that I really don't know why. Personally, I can watch this film over and over all through my life, especially when I have a bad day and want to feel good about the world again, it will be one of the films I choose to watch. Starring Ted Danson as Larry Kozinski  Isabella  Rossellini as Maria Hardy, Sean  Young as Tish and William Petersen as Tom Hardy. It's a kind of mismatched couples and definitely nothing  to do with incest. They are not related. 😊   Maria is married to Tom and they have one daughter. Her mum is getting married to Larry's uncle. On their wedding day Tom and Tish who is Larry's wife starting an affair. Maria and Larry console each other on this subject but as they get to know each other they start to have feelings for each other and fall in love. Ted Danson is not that handsome but there is something warm and manly about him. He p

The great expectations เดอะ เกรท เอ็กซ์เป็คเทชั่นส์

I've re-watched this film today,  on a grey, cold and wet day, feeling disappointed with the weather. I've always liked this film. It's not the film that has been mentioned a lot and most people I know have never seen or heard of it. But this 90's version of The great expectations is my most favourite version of all. Instead of Kent and London England in the early 19th century, it sets in Florida and New York, USA in the late 20th century. There are some alterations such as the boy is  called Finn instead of  Pip and Ms Havisham's name has changed to Ms Dinsmore. The film has cut out a lot of boring complicated story and unnecessary dramas and straight to the point. It's beautifully and artistically done. I don't think Charles Dickens' fans would've approved (?) but I love it instead of a boring period, old fashioned it's become such a sleek, artistically cool film. I also love music score written by Patrick Doyle  Estellas's theme - YouTube
